So Beautifully Maia

I still remember that overwhelming feeling of pure and inexplicable love when Maia was first laid on my chest after I gave birth to her. She was blue (for a short while), her head was swollen and she was covered in goo...but she was mine, ours!  Our first born. So tiny, so red, so wrinkly. She was an intense one, lots of crying in those first few months, all of us trying hard to adapt to one another, her in her new environment, us to our first daughter and all the responsibility that comes with it.

And I watch her now, this big, little girl, chatting away so freely ..talking about all her likes and dislikes...expressing her emotions in all their entirety....so loving, so hot tempered, so sweet and caring, so up so down..but so beautifully Maia. Her love for her brother, the way they hug each other, hold hands and laugh together...

Her smile lights up my world. Those big green eyes, those lashes, that golden tone to her soft skin...her loud giggles...that crazy energy of hers that never wanes...her intense curiosity for all that is life that surrounds her. Yes she runs in all different directions and it's exhausting chasing her at times...but she is what she is and I would not change a thing. My wild bird...keep running little girl...keep up that curiosity of yours, explore, explore the world .

......(but don't go too far :( )

So Beautifully Maia...always....
